Our new puppy. 'ROSIE'

I have been wanting a new puppy for a long long time & finally Adam agreed to start looking. After emailing 5 possible dog owners we were pleased to recieve a reaction from our first preference.

Rosie come from the farm in Glenmorgan [5 hours west of Brisbane], & I was prepared to drive there & meet the puppies if need however the owner happended to be visiting Brisbane & brought her last 2 remaining puppies [from a litter of 8]. I drove over to meet both puppies & after a long 1 hour play [Gypsy came along with me & played witht eh puppies].. I finally made my choice. It was very hard as they were both perfect & it was sad to seperate the last 2. Leaving 1 puppy all to herself.

The mother of Rosie is a black Kelpie [same as Gypsy, but different colour] & the Father is a Koolie. Both breeds are a working dog & are extremely intelligent.

When looking for a puppy I wanted to make sure that I got a Kelpie X & the puppy MUST be from the land/farm. I wanted to smart dog who learns quick & has loads of energy to accompany me on my long walks each day. [Poor Gypsy is now retired & can only manage 2-3 short walks a week]:(

Rosie came self toilet trained [Im unsure how that happened] BUT its been a Godsend... She doesnt bark much [Perfect for me & just like Gypsy] On the first day I taught her how to sit & begun with the leash straight away, next day to come & by the 3rd day shake hands. Its amazing how quick puppies learn things when the time is devoted to them & their training.

I take Rosie for at least an hours walk each day & we stop & start to say hello to everyone on the way. We walk around the railway station & past the school kids & then down to the park & mix with other dogs & all the teenagers who stop & want to meet her.

Gypsy gets along with Rosie very well & I am pleased they have accepted each other.
As there is a huge age difference between them [Gypsy is 12 years & Rosie 3 months, I seperate them at night time & also give Gypsy a few hours during the day alone. Rosie has sooooooooooooooooo much energy that my poor Gypsy gets very tired very quickly & loses her patience if she wants to sleep & Rosie wants to bounce around & play.Here are a couple of Pics ...[ I have also included a picture of a Koolie so that you have an idea]. Enjoy & for those that are close.... i hope you come to meet her one day soon.

Adam has a new job

Adam has a new job with Air New Zealand, YEAH!!!

He started in Jan & is based at the International airport here in Brisbane. His position is very different to 'check in' & he is learning a wide range of exciting things.

His initial training gave him the opportunity to travel to Auckland, New Zealand for the first time. Working for an international company will allow Adam to travel back & forth to New Zealand for work purposes several times a year. He has been lucky to fly business class already [lucky bugger :)]

It took a little while for him to adust to the normality of working a full long shift [As apposed to the split shifts & shift work at Qantas & the constant roster changes & different start times on each day]. Now he enjoyes long days & his sleeping patten is much better.

I enjoy his 6 days on & 3 days off roster as we get to spend allot more quality time together & 3 days is a good number to wind down & relax.

Congratulations from me to Adam, its a wonderful step to hopefully a opportunity for career growth.

My Thialand holiday trip -UPdated 21 Feb 08

Hi all,

Here is my trip, so far:

Day 1 Arrive Bangkok Airport, stay at the Novotel within the airport.

Day 2 Early flight to Chiang Mai [Northern Thailand] to be picked up by Cooking resort. Cooking class 10-4pm to learn traditional Thai cooking methods 7 food carving

That evening we were treated to a Thai feast with no less than 8 courses, followed by a fire lantern ceremony.

Day 3 Grabbed the resort bikes for a ride around to nearby villages.
Afternoon- Chiang Mia, check into Novotel - clean but very tired hotel
Walking tour of main Temples within the ancient city gates / moat
Night Bazaar... Chiang Mai is definatley the shopping capital of Thailand..
Everything one could imagine was on display / for sale.

Day 4 Early morning rise for more markets & then later a half day trip to Doi Suthep
Temple [15klm from town & up on mountain above the city]. There after
on to one of the royal palaces to experience the wonderful gardens in full
bloom & not to forget the water fountain display

Late afternoon... more markets .. food & Yes!! more markets

Day 5 This day is the highlight of my trip in Chiang Mai. Elephant Trekking in the
jungle, boat ride down the river & visit hill side tribes. It was great to
have an up & close encounter with the Elephants.

Day 6 Chiang Mai .. Rest day.. More markets & wander through the city

Day 7 1st stop Post office... to off load all my gifts that I had bought so far
Afternoon flight to Bangkok to Check into Novotel Siam Square [Absolutley
Perfect hotel, in the city centre]
Late evening.. Finally a reunion with my best friend Ja & her fiance Alex

Day 8 Walk to Jim Thompson house several teak houses restored
He was an American man who rekindled & made famous the World famous silk
trade in Thailand] At age 61 here went on a holiday & vanished never to
be seen again. His home & legacy donated to the Thai Kingdom & is now a
tourist attraction

Suan Pakkad Palace, another Royal Palace.

Day 9 Lunch with ja & Her mother
Took local ferry down the Chao Phraya River
Dinner / Drinks with ja & Alex

Day10 MBK, Siam square, Paragon shopping day .. Dinner with some of Ja family
Her cousin was celebrating her UNI graduation & we ate at an amazing
Chinese restaurant.

Day11 Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Reclining Budda, Marble temple.. an amazing
day full of culture

Day12 Chatuchak Markets.. more than 30 acres of markets [with ja & Alex]very busy
day, extremely hot.

Day13 Final day for shopping & late in afternoon Paragon Aquarium


Day14 Bus pick up to Pattaya.. check into Sofitel Resort.. An absolutely
georgous resort.. with private beach
afternoon of relaxation & a city walk around at night to see the ladyboys

Day15 Kohlarn Island.. local ferry 45mins. A day of sunbaking & swimming
in the ocean

Day16 Free day relax at resort.. evening Tiffanys Caberet show [All ladyboys]

Day17 Free day relax at resort & short trip into town for shopping

Day18 Private car pick up to return to Bangkok airport for our journey home
