Hi all,
Here is my trip, so far:
Day 1 Arrive Bangkok Airport, stay at the Novotel within the airport.
Day 2 Early flight to Chiang Mai [Northern Thailand] to be picked up by Cooking resort. Cooking class 10-4pm to learn traditional Thai cooking methods 7 food carving
That evening we were treated to a Thai feast with no less than 8 courses, followed by a fire lantern ceremony.
Day 3 Grabbed the resort bikes for a ride around to nearby villages.
Afternoon- Chiang Mia, check into Novotel - clean but very tired hotel
Walking tour of main Temples within the ancient city gates / moat
Night Bazaar... Chiang Mai is definatley the shopping capital of Thailand..
Everything one could imagine was on display / for sale.
Day 4 Early morning rise for more markets & then later a half day trip to Doi Suthep
Temple [15klm from town & up on mountain above the city]. There after
on to one of the royal palaces to experience the wonderful gardens in full
bloom & not to forget the water fountain display
Late afternoon... more markets .. food & Yes!! more markets
Day 5 This day is the highlight of my trip in Chiang Mai. Elephant Trekking in the
jungle, boat ride down the river & visit hill side tribes. It was great to
have an up & close encounter with the Elephants.
Day 6 Chiang Mai .. Rest day.. More markets & wander through the city
Day 7 1st stop Post office... to off load all my gifts that I had bought so far
Afternoon flight to Bangkok to Check into Novotel Siam Square [Absolutley
Perfect hotel, in the city centre]
Late evening.. Finally a reunion with my best friend Ja & her fiance Alex
Day 8 Walk to Jim Thompson house several teak houses restored
He was an American man who rekindled & made famous the World famous silk
trade in Thailand] At age 61 here went on a holiday & vanished never to
be seen again. His home & legacy donated to the Thai Kingdom & is now a
tourist attraction
Suan Pakkad Palace, another Royal Palace.
Day 9 Lunch with ja & Her mother
Took local ferry down the Chao Phraya River
Dinner / Drinks with ja & Alex
Day10 MBK, Siam square, Paragon shopping day .. Dinner with some of Ja family
Her cousin was celebrating her UNI graduation & we ate at an amazing
Chinese restaurant.
Day11 Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Reclining Budda, Marble temple.. an amazing
day full of culture
Day12 Chatuchak Markets.. more than 30 acres of markets [with ja & Alex]very busy
day, extremely hot.
Day13 Final day for shopping & late in afternoon Paragon Aquarium
Day14 Bus pick up to Pattaya.. check into Sofitel Resort.. An absolutely
georgous resort.. with private beach
afternoon of relaxation & a city walk around at night to see the ladyboys
Day15 Kohlarn Island.. local ferry 45mins. A day of sunbaking & swimming
in the ocean
Day16 Free day relax at resort.. evening Tiffanys Caberet show [All ladyboys]
Day17 Free day relax at resort & short trip into town for shopping
Day18 Private car pick up to return to Bangkok airport for our journey home
